Alyssa believes movement should feel empowering, not intimidating. Her journey to becoming a Pilates instructor wasn’t linear—but it was deeply personal. After a series of unusual injuries in adulthood, Alyssa was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), a connective tissue condition that made her rethink how she was moving through the world. What started as an effort to reconnect with her body through mindful movement soon turned into a calling.
Alyssa is currently completing her Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certification through Balanced Body, one of the world’s leading Pilates education programs. Her training is rooted in the original principles of Joseph Pilates: Breath, Concentration, Control, Precision, Center and Flow - but layered with a modern understanding of anatomy, alignment, and mobility. She believes Pilates can meet any body where it’s at, especially those who’ve been told they don’t fit the mold.
Alyssa’s teaching style is best described as firm but fun - she believes in showing up for yourself and moving with purpose, but never taking yourself too seriously. Her classes strike a balance between structure and play, where clients are challenged to build strength, control, and awareness - while also laughing, letting go, and feeling at ease in their own bodies. You’ll leave her sessions feeling stronger, more grounded, and maybe even smiling at muscles you didn’t know existed.
Alyssa is currently working toward her Master’s at Harvard, with a focus on how to lead and grow a business with intention, compassion, and a deep sense of community. After spending years in the corporate world, she realized she wanted something more personal - something she could build from the ground up that truly reflected her values and was deeply rooted in the Forney community she now calls home.
When she’s not in the studio or studying, Alyssa can often be found walking one of her many dogs downtown, working on her 150-year-old house, or attending events with her neighbors. She’s passionate about giving back to the Forney community, creating inclusive wellness spaces, and reminding people that it’s never too late to reconnect with your body - with strength, grace, and grit.

I've never done pilates before, how do I know it's right for me?
No matter where you are in your fitness journey—whether you're just starting out or you're on your 100th class—our Pilates repertoire is tailored to meet you exactly where you are. Every movement is intentional, rooted in the original foundations developed by Joseph Pilates.
We emphasize mindful control, breath, alignment, and precision to ensure each session supports your individual goals while building long-term strength, flexibility, and awareness. At XO Pilates, it's not just about movement—it's about moving with purpose.
I’ve heard Pilates is only for people who are already fit or skinny. Is that true?
Absolutely not! That’s a common misconception, and we’re here to break it. Pilates was never meant to be exclusive for one group of people. In fact, when Joseph Pilates created this method, his goal was to help people of all ages, backgrounds, and body types move better, feel better, and build lasting strength from the inside out.
Whether you're starting your movement journey, working toward weight loss, or just wanting to feel stronger and more connected to your body, Pilates is a powerful and supportive practice. Our classes are inclusive, intentional, and always focused on helping you move better and feel better.
Pilates is for every body, and we welcome clients of all sizes and abilities. Our Allegro 2 Reformer equipment is designed to safely support individuals up to 350 pounds. If you have concerns or specific needs, we’re happy to chat and recommend the best starting point—whether that’s a group class or a private session.
Where is the studio located?
We’re currently located in the heart of historic downtown Forney, Texas. You'll practice in a bright, welcoming studio located within the pool house of our historic residence. Parking is available on-site and the gate code is provided to clients upon booking.
Private group mat classes are available to book both inside the pool house, or around the property on the covered porches, pool deck or lawns.
Do you offer group reformer sessions?
We will be soon! When we move into our new studio space in Forney, Texas in the winter of 2025, we will be offering small and large group reformer classes throughout the week.
Currently, we only offer 1:1 reformer sessions, but friends and family are welcome to sit in on sessions (as long as they aren't distracting, this is your practice after all!).
Sign up for our email list to get updates on studio opening dates, founding memberships and events!
Can I take classes if I’m pregnant or recently had a baby?
We welcome clients who are pregnant and have prior Pilates experience. However, for safety reasons, we do not accept new clients who are currently pregnant and have never practiced Pilates before or have not practiced since becoming pregnant. If you’re postpartum, we’d love to support your recovery—just make sure you're cleared by your doctor before returning to class.
What should I wear for my session?
Wear something comfortable that you can easily move around in. We recommend yoga pants or bike shorts and a breathable shirt or sports bra. Avoid clothing with zippers or buttons, which can damage equipment. Grippy socks are encouraged for all classes and required for reformer sessions. Wear your own or borrow a pair of ours!
What is the age requirement to book a session?
Yes. Clients must be at least 16 years old to participate in reformer classes, and a parent or guardian must sign a waiver for anyone under 18. For group mat classes and events, clients must be at least 13 years old and attend with a parent or guardian over the age of 18.
Do I need to be flexible to do Pilates?
Not at all! Pilates is designed to improve flexibility, so no matter your starting point, you’ll gain mobility over time with consistent practice.
What's the difference between mat and reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight and a mat, while reformer Pilates involves a specialized machine that adds resistance using springs and pulleys. Both build core strength, improve posture, and enhance flexibility—just in slightly different ways.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a class to avoid being charged. No-shows and late cancellations may be subject to a fee.
Are my kids allowed to attend my 1:1 session?
While we recommend arranging childcare so you can fully focus on your session, well-behaved children are welcome to sit in the waiting area during your session. Please bring books, activities or headphones/iPad for them to enjoy! Please note that for safety reasons, children are not allowed on the studio equipment or to wander the property. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to maintain a calm, focused environment for all you.
